Dans ce chapitre, tu vas apprendre à repérer le thème d'un texte, comprendre le message de l'auteur et relier ces idées au monde réel.
Le thème principal
The theme is the central idea of a text — not what happens (the plot), but the deeper idea behind it.
Comment identifier le thème
Exemples de thèmes courants
- friendship, justice, identity, freedom, courage
- greed, loss, family
Exemple
"The main theme is friendship — the story shows how true friendship can survive difficult times."
Le message de l'auteur
The message is what the author wants to tell you — more specific than the theme. It is expressed as a full sentence (une leçon, une morale).
Comment trouver le message
- Look at what happens to the characters: are they rewarded or punished?
- Notice how characters change throughout the story.
- Use the plot to understand what the author believes.
Formules utiles
- "The author suggests that..."
- "The author wants to show that..."
- Example: "Courage and honesty will always be rewarded."
Relier le texte au monde réel
Literature connects to real-world social and moral questions. Going beyond the story shows deeper understanding.
Types de questions
- Social questions: poverty, discrimination, power, education, immigration, belonging.
- Moral questions: right and wrong, justice, honesty, loyalty.
Formules utiles
- "This text raises the question of..."
- "The theme of [X] reflects the real-world issue of [Y]."
- Example: A story about exclusion → connects to immigration or belonging.
